Saw this old Buick Hearse at a show a couple of weeks ago in San Rafael.

Don't forget his land speed record attempt at Bonnevile in 2003. (He was 85) in a 300 SL. [www.racesafety.com] There is a great movie about it.

Why yes it is rubber...

@FordTuffMcgruff: You are probably right. I followed that line for only a few years. During the mid 80s, I was importing grey market cars, so my attention wasn't very focused on what real progress was being made on most domestic cars. It seemed to me that the malaise generally killed US (and a lot of foreign) cars

That is easy. My dad bought a brand new 1978 Mercury Zephyr. It was the first Ford product he had owned since he had a 1936 Ford. It was also the last Ford product he ever owned. That car was a cheap, underpowered piece of crap of the first order. Also, he made the mistake of buying it in its introductory year,

@Poom: Hennessey is a tuner car with spare engineering. How many have they built? Road tested by anyone in the max configuration. Can anyone larger than Mini-Me fit into one? No I didn't think so.

Or a Bentley shooting break... Which the lame app won't upload.... :( But here is a link to it's posting. [rides.webshots.com]

@JonZeke: Totally agreed, these cobbled together monsters lack basically everything that a ground up integrated design like the Veyron has. And at 6'3" 210 lbs., I am not likely able to get into one of the 'Frankenloti' much less out...

#7 is my new wall paper. Awesome photo.

I would have thought the Mille Miglia would be in this list. That was a wonderful and crazy race like the Targo Florio. It ended in sorrow when Alfonzo Portago in a Ferrari crashed horribly into a group of spectators, killing 9, 5 of which were children. Stirling Moss drove his MB 300 slr at an average speed of

I wonder how much weight the car lost when it was grated (like cheese) on the armco. To get that car to go around that track you need to have large attachments, and master the art of one long (7:55) controlled crash.

Finally a BMW that won't rust.

You could add Windows Live I guess. Sky drive has 25 gigs of free online space, which alone makes it worth while.

The rear end now looks like a Pontiac. Seems like almost no one is getting proper ass these days. Look at the otherwise beautiful Mercedes SLS, and who can forget (who wants to remember) the Bangle days.

I am guessing the security angle is purely a red herring. This is about corporate competition. When administered correctly a Windows network is every bit is secure as any other. Especially a hybrid of Mac, Linux and Windows.

So much engineering, so much effort, so pathetic a result. (Both practically and conceptually). They could have just told a story and it would have been equally as entertaining, instead people used real resources and real time for this.

Love that steep dip at the end of the straight then hard right hander. This would be a great replacement for the characterless Bahrain track.
