I used to stop by there after work when I worked in the Warehouse district. Reasonably-priced beers, lots of tattoos, a quite beautiful interior. It smelled nice, and they had good soups.

During Obama’s presidency, the press had these important stories about the Right. The Tea Partiers. What did they think of a Democratic president? Let’s ask the heartland. They are the Important, Left-Behind voters.

My mother-in-law introduced us to Brewer’s Yeast (sometimes called “Nutritional Yeast”) when my wife and I first started dating. It’s a great, all-purpose garnish that adds a nutty flavor, and is full of B-Vitamins. Our normal popcorn flavoring is Parmesan, Brewer’s Yeast, salt (or sometimes Cavender’s Greek

During the 2012 election, Steve Benen at MaddowBlog had a series pointing out all the times Mitt lied during the campaign. He called it “Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity”, and it was thorough and scathing. He made it up to 41 installments.

I don’t know how many of you folks commenting have been involved in high-stakes Hollywood negotiations. I certainly have not. Maybe Occam would say that Wahlberg’s negotiating arm saw a way to squeeze some more $$$ out of the producers to do the re-shoots, unaware of any compensation being payed to the others

Veggie burgers can be delicious. I don’t eat them because they’re healthy. I’m an omnivore, but sometimes a black-bean burger really hits the spot. It’s lighter and less fatty than ground beef, and the good ones are spiced perfectly.

Sorry if you’re getting dupes here, can’t seem to edit this post - trying it one more time:

The writers writing under the name “Tomas a Kempis”, in the book “The Imitation of Christ”,14th century:

I traveled to Buffalo, NY in the late ‘80s. One thing I noticed was that they served their french fries with beef gravy. I was hooked.

Got locked up in Southern Indiana for a DUI while in college, for a few days. It was the Brown County jail, which sounds similar to this place. Dilapidated, crumbling concrete, iron bars, the whole lot. I was the only guy there the duration. Good food, though. I honestly think the sheriff’s wife cooked it. Real Andy

My wife is a huge fan of Costco, and she bought a huge (is there any other size at Costco?) bunch of pre-peeled hard-boiled eggs. Now I go through hard-boiled eggs like a maniac, eating them alone, using them in Caesar Salad, putting them in my creamed tuna & cheese over rice, and sometimes wrapping them in a slice of

When I had a stomach flu as a kid, my only diet was toast and Lipton tea. I don’t know how curative it was intended to be, but it did make me feel better, and I could usually keep it down.

I’ve been saying that there’s a Minnesota-style pizza for years. Not just Red’s Savoy (which was awesome, I think, primarily because the ovens were so well-seasoned), but Carbone’s, Michael’s, Hearthside, Mama’s. It’s a style I haven’t eaten anywhere else.

I’m not a real connoisseur, but I always really, really liked the Reuben at Brothers’ in downtown Minneapolis. Apparently the Lincoln Deli was the absolute best.

Wait, is this rabbit immediately attacked by a hawk or something? I really don’t want to see anything like this.

I was on a choir tour in Manhattan, and someone recommended an Indian place around the corner from our hotel. It was incredible. My wife, our friend and I ordered various dishes and asked them to spice it “as hot as you make it”. The food was delicious, but not very spicy. When the waiter came around when we were

Well, at our house in Minnesota, we’ve stuffed the bird for decades, and cooking shows & sites notwithstanding, nobody’s ever come down with Salmonella. It’s better in the bird. So it’s stuffing.

I’m not up-to-date with the series, but at the end of the last episode I watched, Lockjaw was actually TRANSPARENT in one scene. I couldn’t discern whether this was supposed to be a new power, but it looked like the animators just screwed up and didn’t bother to fix it.

I never spent much time with Dragon’s Lair, because it was just stupid hard. You needed to move to the exact right spot at the exact right time while the laserdisc gave you the millisecond window to respond. I totally agree with people who can’t believe how far the character got in it on Stranger Things. Nonetheless,
