Imagine two entities. One says they support women, yet doesn’t do anything beyond saying that. The other makes a joke about women’s equality, but uses it to set up a scholarship program to support women in their industry.
I had the same reaction. It’s understandable that the joke flew over some people’s heads, but after having it explained to them, I don’t know how anyone could still be upset.
It feels like a lot of people have lost or abandoned the ability to differentiate a joke that is about a subject from a joke at the expense of a subject.
So maybe I’m missing something but my understanding from this article is that Burger King wants more female representation, is offering up a scholarship to women, and has declared that it’s a woman’s personal choice if she wants to be in the kitchen or not. Why is there controversy over this? Everything seems…
King Burgers last words before getting guillotined was Have It Your Way!
Yeah, it’s not like anyone’s ever made fun of John Mayer.....
...and The Walking Dead, I’ve been trained to believe that “a show that gives me anxiety” must automatically be a “good” show.
This. This. This! Season 7 doesn’t get enough hate due to how atrocious S8 was. If the series ended right after Ceresi bombed the Great Sept of Baelor and Jaime just killed her immediately after she got coronated then the series would have been a huge let down but it would not have become the abomination it ended up…
This. It’s not like the ending being terrible came out of nowhere.
So what actually happened? What was so terrible? I’m never going to watch this thing, I don’t care about spoilers.
Since I also wanted to know what happened having not seen the show, I looked stuff up and it sounds like this is the synopsis:
White kid accidentally(?) kills white kid, turns out the dead kid is son of a drug lord, so killer’s dad (a judge) decides to cover it up, lets a black kid take the rap, said black kid and his…
I feel like show drove over some ice in the middle of season four and just spent another 35 episodes slowly careering towards a bridge abutment.
I had never seen a negative review do clickbait on behalf of the stuff it’s telling you not to watch.
I turned to my husband and said “this is basically a soap opera, a really bad one not even entertaining enough to be a spanish one”
Aw come on man, don’t make me or others waste time watching this because now I’m curious.
“then the literal ending, which was supposed to be some karmic retribution, seems to have been written by Van Jones.”
So I ventured over to The Ringer and read the article... some takes:
Wickersham reports: “The Patriots repeatedly offered Garoppolo four-year contract extensions, in the $17 million to $18 million range annually that would go higher if and when he succeeded Brady. Garoppolo and Yee rejected the offers out of hand ...”
Really? Wait, I don’t feel like I’ve gotten my point across enough…
