No they aren’t. Again, only two buttons on the entire steering where are actually capacitive, the volume slider and the station/song change slider. Every other ‘button’ on the steering where has to be physically pressed, it’s like a joystick style pad and it knows what you want by the angle it’s pressed.

I have 9000

There are only two buttons on the entire steering wheel that are actually capacitive. I have 9000 miles on my R and i’ve mis-clicked something maybe twice.

Not all the buttons on the steering wheel are even capacitive, I honestly don’t get what the fuck everyone is complaining about. I’ve put 9000 miles on my R and I think I’ve mis-clicked something twice.

If you look at the header image photo for instance, the only thing you can activate without physically pushing is the

Siracha does the trick. Just squirt on an ample amount and rub it around/in with a paper towel. Once it dries you can’t tell it’s there and it actually makes any weird white spots on the pumpkin look more orange!

No no, you’re correct. They aren’t confused, they just don’t want to help non-whites.... soooo.....

When you’re employed by a company involved in a giant pyramid scheme, it’s amazing NO ONE SAW IT COMING?!?!

Haha.

Insurance. Fraud.

Have you drive one? I have 9k miles on mine and I’ve ‘accidentally’ hit a button on the wheel maybe twice. Aside from the volume control, you still have to actually ‘press’ the area where the control is. The volume is the only swipe part.

I have almost 9k miles on my R, the system takes away the vast majority of the ‘buttons’ you have to press because it does everything automatically. Heated seats, vented seats, heated steering wheel, all come on by themselves based on temperature, the ‘auto’ function for the HVAC works amazing, I think i’ve actually

Why does there need to be a more tuned version of the RS5? Just make the RS the absolute best it can be and price by damned.

Yeah, that was sort of my point. They have taken the need to actually hit the buttons away, so it’s not as big a deal. The fact that the car is smart enough to know when I need the heaters/vents on is awesome.

The could afford to remove the physical buttons because they tried to make it so you never have a need to hit

Things I didn’t know I needed until I got my R, and will never own a car without again:

- Heated steering wheel
- Vented Seats.

I’m sort of biased I guess? But I went from an 18' 7.5GTI to a 22' R, and I love the R as a daily.

You are correct, but mines a DCT because my knees are held together with chewing gum and paper mache currently.

Type R - 315/310 FWD

I went from a 7.5 GTI to a 8 R, the UI is a non-issue to me. It’s different, as with all new things, took me 2 weeks to get used to, and the way they have it set up, it takes fewer buttons to do things so you’re using it less.

Have you actually driven one?

Honest question, have you actually driven one and used the controls? It’s really a non issue. I have almost 7k miles on my R.

Really the only piano black is directly around the screen and the digital dash. The rest of the plastic on the center console and the sides is a matte finish that is actually really nice and doesn’t show fingerprints that much. There’s a nice patterned plastic that runs above the vents which doesn’t show anything and

From what I’ve dealt with so far it works with any sort of glove, but I find myself not wearing gloves because of the heated steering wheel.

Yes, can fully disable through the UI, I made a shortcut for mine so it's less of a effort to get to the button.
