Type R - 315/310 FWD

I went from a 7.5 GTI to a 8 R, the UI is a non-issue to me. It’s different, as with all new things, took me 2 weeks to get used to, and the way they have it set up, it takes fewer buttons to do things so you’re using it less.

Have you actually driven one?

Honest question, have you actually driven one and used the controls? It’s really a non issue. I have almost 7k miles on my R.

Really the only piano black is directly around the screen and the digital dash. The rest of the plastic on the center console and the sides is a matte finish that is actually really nice and doesn’t show fingerprints that much. There’s a nice patterned plastic that runs above the vents which doesn’t show anything and…

From what I’ve dealt with so far it works with any sort of glove, but I find myself not wearing gloves because of the heated steering wheel.

Yes, can fully disable through the UI, I made a shortcut for mine so it's less of a effort to get to the button. 

In my opinion, and I have 5000 miles on mine, the UI issues were blown away out of proportion. Took me one week to get used to it.

Good to hear. I do agree about the Q7 series, it’s showing it’s age and doesn’t blend well with their other new rollouts.

I love me some SQ8 RSQ8, but damn they are pricey...

I don’t know why, I’m just so unimpressed with the Acura’s recently? Maybe I need to drive one? Eh.

From a size perspective the MDX is bigger than the SQ5 and smaller than the SQ7, but for a starting price of 10k less, is the SQ5 the better option?

Heck, you can max out an SQ5 for 67k, the starting price for the MDX...and I like the Audi interiors better anyway.

It’s really not that bad. Took me all of two weeks to get used to it and now I love it. /shrug

Man, it’s so weird that the thoughts on the infotainment are all over the board. I had a 7.5 GTI and I now have a 8 R, it’s awesome. In my opinion, the complaints over the infotainment system were so blown out of proportion to almost border on negligence. It took me all of 2 weeks to get used to it and now I love it.

I really appreciate you pulling together this list. I live in Indy and I think we take for granted that we have a pretty great downtown area, despite all the nay-sayers.

I’m usually out at the track about a dozen times during the month of May, and it’s still an amazing experience walking into the track ever year.
