There is a story literally every week save for maybe two or three weeks after the convention of “the polls are getting closer, panic!” and yet Trump’s numbers remain stuck in the low 40's since, well, like...forever. Nothing has fundamentally changed about the race.

I mean, it depends on the jurisdiction and how good your union is at negotiating. A lot of unions negotiate annual raises, especially now that we’re back out of the recession.
