@badger: Maybe he has no right/wrong filter. Maybe, as reseplendent said above, he was defending himself from a sexual assault. I sure as shit don't know. But "Foreigner in a South American Prison" is pretty high on my list of fucked-up situations where self defense might be necessary often.
