The X1/9 was the true mid-engined two seat sports car with a removable targa top that fit in the front trunk of the car. It had a wedge shape, and were fun little cars. I had several of them, and they were a lot more reliable cars than they were given credit for.

That’s a pretty inaccurate blanket statement. The 90's brought the Acura NSX, 3rd gen RX-7, and 2nd gen MR-2 just to name a few. All three still look good today, and the 3rd gen RX-7 is sexy as hell if you can find one in stock form.
