I’m still appalled that the same DA’s office that works with police in other cases is supposed to pursue cases against officers. This type of situation seems to scream for independent a prosecutor.

If the case doesn’t stick in a Grand Jury there’s almost no chance in a trial. The same pool of people, the same prosecutor’s office, the same witnesses, et al. Giving this to a prosecutor saves some time, but I don’t see it making a difference.
