This is a massive waste of time and money. I think most police would let this go, however it could be misdemeanor assault or disorderly conduct if the “victim” pushed it, a fine of $50.00 or $100.00 is all that is needed. A felony charge is beyond ridiculous.
Agreed. But you are not allowed to assault someone physically because you disagree with their statement (BTW I do not believe this is assault -- this is disorderly conduct -- a misdemeanor punished by a fine).

Accountability does not include taking someone’s property and throwing a drink in their face. A more appropriate response might be “fuck you and your stupid hat.” Or a conversation on with the kid on why you feel (rightfully) that MAGA is racist and hurtful.
