Sadly, Challenger should still be flying (if the O-ring problems and the cold launch hadn’t been done - both were known problems), and Columbia should’ve been used as a lifeboat until we could’ve sent something up to bring the astronauts back safely. Maybe Columbia could’ve even been repaired in space and flown back…
