I can't say I loved it, as a whole, until the season-ender. Then the feeling that the show was repeating itself gave way to the idea that the show was showing you that Don was repeating himself and was at the end, perhaps, ready to make a real change.

Could not agree more. I must have watched the last 15 minutes 15 times.

I was bored to death watching The Dead, John Huston's last film. And then the ending, which lends perspective on why we trawled through so much effluvium. It's a hell of a thing; one of my favorite speeches in all of film. There should be a word for that kind of moment of revelation!
