I came across a running excavator yesterday, jacking that would have been the world’s slowest chase since they only do 2-3 mph. Wheel loaders and backhoes are comparatively fast. Someone in Oregon recently drove stolen backhoe almost 200 miles.

Not driving on eclipse day sounds like a good idea. In 2017 we just walked to the park because there was a tree blocking the view off our deck. This time we are way off path so I plan to do nothing.  Also I forgot where we put the eclipse glasses.

BMW Motorcycles Red Smoke from the 70s, Mystic Red from the 90s was also good.  For most iconic color not on a car or motorcycle I'd nominate Bianchi Celeste.

Hatchbacks are good, unfortunately Hyundai/Kia has lost reputation after the Theta engine and their dealerships are repellent.

The G is more pointless than ever. I like the old G Wagens that are, essentially a a German 70 Series Landcruiser. The modern G is a bloated caricature whose primary purpose is ostentatious display of wealth.

Parking is cheaper and faster than houses. Oregon has a lot of homeless living in RVs so “managed camp sites” are a big deal right now since it cuts, down on street clutter and hazmat. Also we’ve had several large brushfires from RVs so corraling them helps.

Fisker should just go Chapter 7 and spare us the agony. They brought nothing to the table Lucid, Rivian or even Hyundai didn't have, and did so with Vinfast rivaling quality.

It's a tribute to modern car design that they do such a good job of protecting people from their own stupidity.  Back in the 80s several of my high school classmates perished from similar stupidity.  It is fortunate that may first car with more than 100hp was purchased in my twenties.  I am also thankful that my son's

Yamaha actually built boats, although power was by wind or Yanmar. Yamaha does make a line of jet boats to compete with Sea Doo that are Yamaha powered.

I am enjoying a nice hot cup of schadenfreude as the CyberCucks suffer failure upon failure of failed flips and broken trucks.

The body cladding era was bad.

My highest payment was the $312 I'm paying for an off leas Mazda CX-5.  this was March 2020 before everything went haywire.  I also  went 15 years without any car payment because I keep cars a long time and our Saturn was free.

These seemed like good cars let down by poor marketing.  They might have sold better as Firebirds or possibly a new name. The GTO carries too much baggage and the equally obvious LeMans was already tainted by the Daewoo built Opel of the 80s.

You are still on the money today.

WTAF, who signed on that loan in the first place? Car loans have become insane between eternal payments, high interest and the occasional negative equity.

NYC cost of living is insane. That 80 square foot apartment is the size of one of my bedrooms for the same as my mortgage payment for a 3 bedroom house in a resort town.

Now playing

With sufficient inputs of speed, alcohol and favorable topography any car can fly, once.

Time for a Fisker  and Vinfast comparison test, battle of the half-baked EV.

Excel is good at some things but makes a bad database and also bad database designs. A good database designer and a good software engineer cost the same as a couple of aerodynamic engineers  and the payoff is a much more efficient build process.  They could probably find off the shelf software since a lot of

Way back when either Car and Driver or Consumer Reports did a test and found that a,tonneau or a cap made a significant difference in gas mileage by cleaning up air flow over the bed. FWIW a canopy was the most efficient.
