Same situation with my cousin, although he only has one bike - a Heritage Softail - that he uses to cruise the Trace or take his kids out on rides.

I ride a vintage HD, in middle Tennessee no less and other than a rare aberration most everyone that I run across who rides a Harley is all about hanging on to that poseur-pirate life, and is all in for trump. If I didn’t love ironheads so much I would ditch it in a heartbeat but it has too much character. Seriously…

It’s one of the reasons we’ve never seriously shopped them. Here in NC, the venn diagram of Wrangler owners and blue lives matter/trump supporters is almost a circle. If it’s not that, it’s a garish mall crawler with RGB lights in each wheel well.

Agreed, and I would bet that most people under the age of 40 feel the same way (not counting the illiterate yokels who agree with that ideology). I’d even be okay with a Victory or similar-style bike, but I just really don’t want to be associated in any way with the type of crowd who typically rides a Harley.

Maybe you would be classified as a “Harley owner” as opposed to a “Harley person”...

I have a new-ish Street Glide which I love, but I avoid those kinds of events partly for the reason you describe. Most of them are bitter old Boomers who love Trump because “If I ain’t gonna be rich, at least he’ll make sure those people stay poor.” That, or they see his nasty behavior as “strong.”
