UK rap. Welsh boys, they're hilarious. The performed this song at an awards show with David and Victoria Beckham in attendance and dedicated the song to David. He took it well but Victoria was much less impressed and the boys had to issue an official apology.
I don't know COld War Kids. Requires a visit to YouTube. My worst would probably be Oasis. The music got drab, Liam left and Noel (I think?) was doing all the vocals, they got less rebellious, though I think that's a problem for a lot of bands that comes with age and financial gain. I would also say the "pop" version…
Yes, that is absolutely true of these guys! When you listen to all 5 albums consecutively you do hear the progression. All the albums fit. I totally get that. It only bothers me if I perceive the sound change to be a bad one. I remember everybody flipped when U2 went electronic, I absolutely loved it, and then they…
You put A.M. first, that's a bit surprising to me. I expect later albums not to be received as well as earlier stuff for most artists. Mine would be 1.Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not, 2. Favourite Worst Nightmare 3. A.M. 4. Suck It and See 5. Humbug not too drastically different than yours. :)
I agree. The only album I'm not so fond of is "Humbug", and it's not even enough to dislike it, I just think it's all right. Jamming to this right now. "Brianstorm" is my favourite on this album.
Love this band. If pressed to pick a favourite INXS track, this would definitely be a frontrunner. Thank you for posting.
Cleveland boys. :) It's a shame I don't like them, lol! I get why others do, I'm just not in that group. I deserve to be given an eye roll for this from all of you. But still, good post. :)
Metal supergroup of sorts, features Phil Anselmo from Pantera and Hank Williams III:
On BBC6 the other day, I got a Wilson Pickett song I'd never heard followed by a Depeche Mode hit single, so there's an example of what you'll get. I sure hope you can get that station, my computer thinks we're still in England and I"m afriad to Americanise it for fear I'll lose access to that stream.
To your response about Jimi: I think that goes back to a lack of creativity in playlists, we only get 5 Jimi songs, the "hits" if you will, because those are the songs everyone knows. You play something they're not familiar with, either they won't recognise it as Jimi or won't like it because it's not "Hey Joe" and…
LOL!
I remember my mother cried. I thought it was a mental illness issue, triggered by control issues, no?
Mine is probably Tool, I'm in the double-digits with them. Saw AM for the first time at Finsbury Park in London last year, Tame Impala was the opener. Would have liked to have been a bit closer to the stage so I could have actually SEEN the show, but a wonderful experience nonetheless. I don;t know if Cleveland is too…
Hah! Those Akron boys.... they're not a personal favourite of mine but I do think they're mega-talented and love everything they stand for.
The obvious answer to me is that radio (I assume we're talking commercial) is now owned by corporations and have limited their playlists to what feels like about 30 songs, and if those guys aren't included on the playlist, then you just don't hear them. When one company owns 25 radio stations across the country,…
+1 PIL. Brilliant.
I could go on too, but I think my favourite is Inner City Blues, it's just so.... well, you know. Marvin.
If forced I would pick AM over the Chiefs too, but still really like these guys. Good post.
Musical guests to me have been the only reason to watch SNL past 1983. And giving it '83 may be being a bit generous.
