When my friends who are doctors ask me what I’ve been up to lately, I adore telling them I’ve been catching up on Grey’s Anatomy. Just for the look of horror on their faces. It’s hilarious.

Experiences they can have together. We gifted my parents a food tour that was local to them and they loved it, plus we got to see photos and things later on in the year; in fact they liked it so much they’ve made a larger plan to do something like it in any city they visit. YMMV

Yes, exactly - one time I was called and the lawyers were still adjudicating, so we got let go... I made the mistake of asking the court clerk what the trial was about and she said “sexual assault of a minor” and I was so very glad I didn’t have to sit through that.

I have had a very similar family situation (except reversed) and I just want to let you know that you’re not alone and you’ve done the right thing blocking your father’s texts. Good for you. Breaking abusive cycles is the best thing possible.

In college my roomie and I would ask folks to brunch on Sunday as an in-between kind of date. Not much pressure, it’s Sunday so you can relax. And it’s just brunch. Plus if it goes terribly at least you haven’t wasted your entire Sunday.

We do this - ask folks to bring what they want to grill - but mostly because we have a weird mix of veggies, meat eaters, and a vegan or two. We usually supply everything else (drinks, paper products, condiments, accoutrements, etc as well as our own meat which we have extra of in case). Is that cool? Please validate…

If you haven’t checked out an Alamo Drafthouse and there’s one near you, I highly recommend it. They serve beer and have decent food (entrees, not hot dogs). Honestly it’s worth it for me just because people seem to take their “Be Quiet Or Else” policy seriously. Probably because they have a good system for reporting…

In Colorado, this is on-trend. When I moved here my friends told me, “If you don’t look like you’re headed to or just came back from hiking, no one wants to talk to you.” Which isn’t true, but “What was your last great hike?” sure is a good ice breaker.
