See, there are plenty of other cultures that mainstream white American culture have raided for ideas, but none infuriate me more than nerd culture and its backlash.

I wanted this to be real, then I saw the GJI title.

All I can think of is the episode where Ozzie tries to build a bonfire on the beach, and it keeps getting washed away by the water.

As a commenter on another side noted, it's effectively a pyrrhic victory. Their "culture" won out, as everyone realized how awesome superheroes can be. However, they are no longer effective gatekeepers to their own culture, and that seems to infuriate them.

I didn't consider that, if only because I don't remember it being defended as stupidly as the twins from the second movie. My first honest impression of Mac's appearance was as a fast-talking used-car salesman, though that's mostly due to my experience growing up as a the son of a mechanic who watched him negotiate

How did the series go from "fun action movie" to "overdone effects orgasm with fun racial stereotypes" so quickly? The first movie is seemingly never on cable, which is disappointing because it was an enjoyable action movie with funny little moments.

I could see it working far better in a TV format. Seriously, movies require (or should require) actual plots to function, and Les Grossman doesn't have time for plots.

I never found his performance particularly funny, though I like to believe that was the point. He became genuinely terrifying by the time the dinner scene rolled around, and his improvised blood smearing was chilling in the theatre.

I'd say John Turturro might be a little better, if only because I like watching him in most anything he does.

Nolan's films aren't straight-up vibrant in their color usage (I think of completely different directors such as Zhang Yimou when the word "vibrant" is used), but they never suck the life out of the action on screen in the way that Snyder's color choices (as I presume he had final say) did during MoS.

I've got three types of Spite Avoidance, and they're either in buckets of Break-Up Pain, Shitty Roommates, or simply Fandom Annoyance. I'm gonna toss some of the Fandom and Roommate stuff into the end of this post, but this is most

Though it kind of took me a long time to get rid of my preconceived dislike, I now have a real appreciation for STP. Velvet Revolver was never as inspired as that band was, obviously, and it never came close to the same level of songwriting. The DeLeos were actually quite good.

If I remember correctly, there's some footage on the internet of GNR minus Axl playing together with Myles Kennedy on vocals. It's not a full reunion, but I think it's the best we'll get.

This is the best line/delivery combination in that movie, and there are no challengers.

It won't have the same magic as the original band (they were using their illusions back when I was born, but I've seen their energy in Youtube clips), but it would be fun if Axl would stop being an egomaniac for just a little bit and let the band reform for a one-off, kind of like Led Zeppelin.

I still hold to the opinion that Velvet Revolver was never as bad or as good as anyone thought they were.

I don't harbor any of those sorts of opinions (I was both raised and socialized not to be that sort of shitty person), so I'm not worried. In fact, typically follow a simple guideline: "Would I be okay with people on the street hearing me say this?"

Early Spongebob holds up far better than it has any business doing, and that's wonderful. I can still watch the original Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy episodes and laugh my ass off.

I prefer to keep my usernames separate unless I do intend to connect with people I actually know. I typically try to separate my online persona from my actual persona, but the lines are usually blurred.

I'm not actively trolling people, nor posting anything racist/homophobic/xenophobic, so I'm not THAT asshole. I am, however, thoroughly in the "bad taste and horrible puns" camp of humor, which is often also in the "asshole" campground as well.
