Not sure how I feel about this being a "reboot." Were we really given enough content in the first game that the entire story needs to be rebooted? Is there nowhere else to go with the world they've already built?

I've known lots of people who invert the Y axis for FPS games. I'm one of them.

Right, and in the average living room there are half a dozen consoles all plugged in and running, being toggled back and forth from a master control console along with one or more PCs, which is itself then run into a convention center display and sound system.

Right, because I'm sure the average consumer will have their console plugged into a complicated convention center AV setup.

So nothing at this conference convinced me to buy an Xbox One.

There are Klingons in this game?

Funny you should say that. There have been several cases of people's laptop webcams being hacked and used to spy on them.

How does this apply to games that are traded to a store like Gamestop, as opposed to being traded directly to another end user? How does this square with their announcement that allowing a game to be sold or traded was up to the publisher?

You agree that race labels are arbitrary...but "mixed race" is accurate.

Go tell Alicia Keys and Tiger Woods that they're not black

Even the idea of "mixed" race is culturally loaded and based on a prejudicial historical and social context.

I have much that is meaningful to add, in contrast to your comment, which doesn't even get the point, obviously.

having a white parent means you can't be black.

No, you don't get to rail against a system you are actively and decisively participating in. That is the definition of hypocrisy. There is absolutely no instance of the word "black" in this article (at least in reference to Nilin) that could not have been just as easily replaced with "mixed race" or something

One does not need to use a particular word in order to talk about that particular subject. It's called subtext.

And that would be completely fine if Nilin identified herself as black. But the whole point of Evan's article is that this game is progressive because she doesn't ever make a point of addressing her race.

I'm not offended or trolling. I'm just pointing out a falacy in the Evan's article. He defines this character as black; an inaccurate label born, as you say, of our traditionally racially segregated society. He does this while holding the game up as an example of a game made for a post-racial society. The two

Or you could stop reading. Or maybe you should keep reading. You might find that you're making yourself sick with your assumptions.

I was talking about whether it's correct or not. The point of my question was to elicit just such an answer so as to have an opportunity to point out exactly why that line of thinking is incorrect.

ou don't know that she's "equally white". You don't know if she's got Middle Eastern heritage, Chinese, Japanese - that's not clear. This thread assumes it is.
