Except one actually ran a similar campaign to Hitler.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Currently the biggest threat the Nordic system is facing is from the conservative parties in their countries. I feel that if they can weather the conservative storm the model is still the best choice they have. I feel like everyone agrees that capitalism is a problem but are not

Wait so your model sets limits on excess but does not take into account costs of living. And it freely redistributes it without also taking into account the cost of living of the areas? You yourself stated that their are economic models to so that doesnt happen.

Your high earner can move cross country and screw their district out of money(remember what is excessive what have to be determined on a level smaller than national due to difference in costs of living).

I lived in Helsinki for a year. My back was acting up. I went to the hospital and they told me to come back the next day to see the specialist and to pee in a cup right now. Less than 24 hours in their biggest city to see a specialist.

Nordic taxes are not that much higher than most US taxes. I pay close to 40% in taxes but get almost nothing for it. In the Nordics they pay slightly higher and get a shit load more.

Because you end up relying too much on those high earners. What happens if multiple high earners end up moving? There is a town in NJ whose budget relied on a single individual who was immensely rich. That person threatened to leave and the town was pretty much beholden to that persons demands. So you tax everyone.

Bootstraps.

Oh I am not Nordic. I’m American.

Actually they vary a lot depending on where they live as well. Does a person in southern california live the same life as someone in Oregon?

Yeah. Pretty much they figured that making him homeless would just cause him to be more likely to turn to crime( i think he got caught with either a small amount of drugs or it was a drunken disturbance) and be an even bigger issue. So an extra 2K now or whatever possible damage he could do later.

I just find that particular model in its pure form to be problematic.

The issue with that then becomes what is considered excess? What is excess in one area is not excess in another. How can the government say “ok you are comfortable enough”? Also what is to stop people from raising the bar on excess? If anything that model would hinder everyone because no one would bother getting ahead

And what do you suggest then? That we not redistribute?

The people there are prosperous BECAUSE of the system. Here the people at the top are there because of capitalism and exploitation. They didnt get up there by working hard.

So because people are racist we shouldnt have a model that attempts to take care of everyone?

From what I have heard first hand is that they are not effectively positioning the refugees. The new waves of refugees are getting dropped off in the middle of nowhere (where employment is scarce enough as is) and many believe they will eventually leave. Some see it is a storm they have to weather for now while in

Likewise. I am thinking of moving back overseas in a year or so. When I was overseas it cost me 50 euros total to see a specialist AND get 3 months worth of painkillers and various other things to nurse my back.

More people equals more tax revenue. A socialist system where people have a say in how the businesses are run and everyone has a chance to benefit. A system where everyone is at least at decent is a system where everyone comes out ahead. In the Nordic model labor reps and employers negotiate while the government

The Nordic Model works pretty well.
