What exactly should the US learn from this? Who are we exiting from?

Sarah Palin want to leave the UN? Does she realize how much of an advantage the US gets from its de facto leadership? HAS SHE EVER PLAYED CIVILIZATION?

I actually thought that Cox’s murder at the hands of a pro-Brexiter would get people to vote to stay in droves. Silly me, thinking that women’s lives should be valued.

Thought the same, and then realized that’s one situation where we’d probably be better off alone. Seriously, though, this vote has somehow brought it home that we really honestly could end up with Trump. I’ve known that intellectually, but my gut still keeps telling me to calm down and that it will never happen. This

Fuck Nigel Farage. He is a disgusting shitpile of a human being.

Seriously fuck Nigel Farage.

There’s a chance you could win the lottery jackpot too, but are you going to bet your life savings on it? Are you going to tell someone who is hurting for money, and about to end up on the street with their family, to spend every penny on lottery tickets? There’s a chance they could win!

Spot on. Denial is powerful.

Our son had a severe heart defect. The reality is that doctors should and do prepare you for the situation coming. Grasping at one in a million odds while ignoring the weight and reality of what’s happening isn’t a good plan.

But there’s never been a child with a case like this in the past who has survived, ever. Now the odds are 0.000001% survival, instead of 0%. But as far as the doctors knew, the odds were zero. It’s cool that now we are doing technology that is defying anything we ever thought possible, but giving people hope when as

They agreed to do the surgery. There’s your hope.

No. The doctors will say what you said, for the most part. They’ll say, “there’s virtually no chance of recovery” and something you left out, “we recommend withdrawing care.”

And it should be noted that doctors don’t use phrases like hope. The parents were the ones saying we had no hope, The doctors said exactly what you wanted them to. These are the chances, it’s likely incompatible with life and you should be aware of this. It’s the parents who have to keep hope.

Few doctors ever actually give the definitives that parents and patients then later claim they did. Doctors don’t speak in absolutes, they speak in odds. So years later when people gleefully say, “my doctor said I had no chance of survival, but here I am!” they’re typically misremembering “you have VIRTUALLY no chance

I don’t agree with having a draft at all (mostly because I don’t think we need near the military force we already have, and if there were a real reason to go to war that everyone agreed on, there would be plenty of volunteers), but I agree that if we have one there is no reason not to include women.

Now stop trolling. You are 25-30 times more likely to die from guns in the US than you are in another developed nation, in large part due to the fact that we are the only ones with such insanely lax laws regarding gun control.
