Thanks for reminding me, I still have to finish watching Umaru-chan...

The muted colors, round borders, and drop shadows of all the previous logos seem to echo the shape of the physical cards, which say TCG/Board game.

the existence of the loot chests doesn’t bother me as much, but there’s something I REALLY want to know.

...that’s true. Based on the article BBD linked, this Ultraman thing has a lot of “we said/they said” kind of argument so it’s hard to trace how legal everything is. HG just purely chooses to be a jerk.

Thanks for the link!

I couldn’t read enough Japanese yet and google translate’s still pretty bad, but did they mention which Thai company that was supposed to be?

From the very first time I watched it, I saw it as a movie adaptation of a sci-fi survival shooter, and a pretty good one at that. It didn’t matter to me that the Final Fantasy title was attached to it.

with the copyright owners listed at the end of the vid, I wonder how many properties will they have in the game? The ones I’m familiar with in the trailer were Ultraman, Evangelion, Godzilla.

It’s one thing I wished more games did, even with the DS4's trackpad actually. Biggest thing I want? Trackpad/touchapad for scrolling menus/maps.

The trailer had Jehuty with its blue-green color scheme, and the Vector Cannon was also in there. I’m pretty sure the Second Runner is in there somewhere.

It’s definitely more stylized than normal. I designed it for longer lines of text, where they will chunk better for reading. Doesn’t look as nice for single-word entries like menus though.

Assuming you’re using an image map for the font and not an actual font file, it’s possible to modify that font to become more legible than it is right now. But you’ll need a certain level of knowledge on both typography and pixel art.

Is everything on-screen gonna be simply upscaled with no AA, including the fonts?

it’s a Japan thing. Golf seems to be popular enough that licensed gear would sell (even the game Hot Shots Golf is a sign that it’s a thing.) Last time I was there, I actually saw a couple of large-ish shops that sell only golf supplies.

hahaha. I cannot deny that.

yep. and that motivational poster references D&D, where spells have limited charges.

Aye. Had to buy a few for research purposes. The bricks actually tore apart within a couple days of playing with them (normal stuff, just putting them together and taking them apart.) Not just little deformations. Bricks actually split and became unusable.

I’ve specifically mentioned that I was talking about Canada though. I probably should’ve specified I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, not Washington state.

before migrating to Canada, these are one of the things we were briefed on at the embassy.

...bejeweled clone... of a game that was mechanically unlrelated to bejeweled, and was originally released years before bejeweled was a thing...
