Yes, sorry, I should have been more clear about that, but you are 100% correct.

That’s not to say customs are legal, in the strictest sense of the word, they seem to exist in a kind of grey area. And since it’s not generally huge business, the brands let it slide because, after all, they got their money from the

Duh. It’s not the shoes that’s getting them sued, it’s the bad press said shoes are getting Nike.

Again, tho, that’s not the point. These things have big ‘ol Nike logos on them, and Nike clearly doesn’t want to be associated with this, hence the suit. It may not be cool, but it makes perfect business sense.

Nope, still 100% right. Just because shops like that are in operation doesn’t make what they’re doing strictly legal. You know that, right? If one of the owners of the products they’re skinning decided they didn’t want their products sold there, they’d be gone.

(in US copyright law) the doctrine that brief excerpts of copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder.

If you’re a no one selling a handful of pairs on an etsy store, sure.

If you’re collaborating with one of the biggest musicians of the day, pushing a product that many would see as offensive (it’s not, but people gonna people), for something that’s going to have millions of eyes on it, absolutely not.

fair use

Every single example you listed is explicitly designed to be used in the creation of something, and has absolutely zero bearing on this specific conversation.

MSCHF took an existing product, repainted it, and added a charm. That’s not an entirely new product, that’s customization. Nike doesn’t have to be associated

Guess what, kids? You can’t just take someone else’s work, repaint it, and sell it as your own creation. This is especially true when said work belongs to a multi-billion dollar global mega corporation. They could maybe give them away in a raffle or something, but selling them, that’s a big no-no.

I’m not arguing

I have two modded PS3s, a phat with a permanent CFW and a slim using HEN, and a modded PSP (a softmodded PS2 as well). All three were simple as hell to mod and I love them dearly.

Sadly, I sold my launch model Vita years ago and haven’t picked up another one yet. I plan on getting one soon but, man oh man, it’s slim

Not that many, but more more than you’d likely assume.

There are hundreds of games between those platforms that only ever got digital releases and were never made available on PS4. None of them should be lost to the whims of Sony because they can’t be bothered to give a shit about their own history.

Used sales don’t support anyone but the seller, and while agree on the second point to a degree, there are a ton of younger people out there who may be just getting into gaming and never had the opportunity to experience this stuff.

I do not condone hacking any hardware that’s currently being supported, but when hardware is discontinued and the storefronts are shut down, when you cannot legally buy the things in a way that supports the people who created them, as far as I’m concerned it’s open season on modding.

I know they’re harmless to me, I know I shouldn’t be scared of them, but I’ll be goddamned if cicadas don’t freak my shit out something fierce. I hate them.

I hate them, I hate them, I hate them, I hate them.

My old roommates dog, who was getting up in years, straight up turned into a puppy when the cicadas came out. She LOVED chasing and eating them.

As a fellow myself, I am fine with this. We’re the worst, snap away.

Eh...4/10.

Not gross enough.

Scorching Hot Take that’s gonna get me nothing but shit:

REmake3 is better than REmake2.

I have no problems at all with the Aspen or Vampirella statues, what I take issue with is the ScarJo Major. Which, on its own would be highly questionable, but the Joker statue is Leto’s Joker....

That’s a firable offence as far as I’m concerned.

Amazon is, in the most literal sense, no different as a game store than any other retailer. If you’re buying console games, you’re either going to get a physical box in the mail you’ll have to wait for, or you’re emailed a code instantly. Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, GAME, etc., etc., etc., all operate the exact same
