Gravity Falls is a nostalgia trip.  It’s absolutely geared more towards adults.  It’s perfectly kid appropriate and kid enjoyable, but geared toward adults.  And yes nostaliga is a drug, but it’s one that 90s and 00s kids didn’t really get to experience related to cartoons.  Because the cartoons just weren’t up to the

I never understood why you’d make an arcade but hate kids.

omg I visited Alladin’s Castle as a kid.  That place was pretty nice!

it was pretty common arcade culture. I experienced it a ton in the rural midwest but my friends on the BBS in LA and OC at the time had even worse stories than me. Actually because of the stories from people on BBS my mom wouldn’t let me go with my brothers anymore and required an adult with me at all times.

you were very lucky!

I just meant the beautiful well manicured well curated arcade.  Even at Gameworks crowds come in and erupt in cheers when someone is going after a kill screen.

we only had 3-4 options in rural midwest.

I had a friend who ran one in Seattle for a long time.  IT IS HARD to find someone.  The market for arcade machines is just picking up but the skilled labor largely left so the market for the labor hasn’t kept up.  An owner has to be good at maintaining the machines themselves but you already have the demands of

those are three great cartoons that stand out, and they’re more geared towards adults than kids.  You just don’t have the options now that you used to, that’s all.  There was a magic about the cartoons back in the day.

I loved the arcades, but didn’t love getting shoved around and treated like shit.  Definitely getting introduced to some great rock and metal was awesome though.

The vibe in those pre-teen focused arcades SUCKED in my opinion, but wow were they safe, the machines were clean, and nobody shoved or punched me. I made some friends there too. But I loved the darkened arcades with the neon lights and blaring rock. I’m glad times have changed because the ambience is 50% of the fun

jeez the cartoons were so amazing. We live in the golden age of television right now, but the cartoon quality for kids is NOT there. I watched saturday morning cartoons recently and was like “what is this stuff?!” I get why YouTube is way more popular with that age demographic now.

one of the most unrealistic things about Tron Legacy was Flynn’s arcade :-)

as a kid growing up arcades were horrible. I would try to go as often as possible, but arcade owners seemed to have distain for kids, and teenagers would shove me around all the time and act like assholes. Fights broke out, A LOT. The arcade resurgence now is amazing because it’s an idealized version of what we all

I mean that said, I know some people who lived with their parents well into their 20s.  When I was done with college my parents were fine with me living at home but there was immense pressure from friends and family friends to get out and be on my own.  So I did it.  I really regret it because I could have worked

I’m pretty excited by these things.  That’s amazing....

Killjoys is still running?!?!

even in LED they’re somewhat wasteful because they don’t really generate light.  They’re 100% asthetic.  Which is fine!!!  again I love them, but yeah they’re totally wasteful.

saving for my list of dad jokes.  Thanks!

yeah his religious belief is he can’t eat with any woman who’s not his wife unless she’s there...  I bet he couldn’t have any women reporting to him either at work.  uhg.
