One is hardly shocked by this. One is barely shocked by anything anymore. Soon, they’ll be disenfranchising people for having funny-sounding last names

California would have economic issues if they wiped out Cali’s agricultural workers, and the rest of you would starve. Might be worth it.
Talking about the differences in states: I have been reading lots of articles articles like this one today in Politico http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/09/16/trump-immigration-crackdown-idaho-dairy-industry-215608?lo=ap_e1, the story is often the same. Red state, Trump state, agricultural state, went…
Thanks. Yep, the 80's and 90's were brutal - especially the 80's - for many reasons. I did know quite a few people who were lost in the plague, but I was VERY lucky in that none of them were from my very closest circle. I did come out of that time, though, having learned the lesson that life = constant loss, which…
Ugh, THANK YOU.
Yes. Way Bandy shit: off chain.
“What do you get when your pres. is a creep?”
I have never heard of Serge Lutens, but you aren’t wrong about Way Bandy! Styling Your Face was huuuuuuge in the 80s, and I spent many after-school hours at the library poring over it.
Rekt.
Funny, semi-related story: Some 20 years ago, I bought the Way Bandy makeup book secondhand after reading he was Kevyn’s inspriation—study your heroes heroes and all that. I went to Konmari my move last year and realized I hadn’t touched the Bandy book in ages. I was going to chuck it in a pile going to the book…
Wait, are we talking “selling the right to vote” or “selling your vote”. If the Former, then yes your vote would become more valuable as time went on. If the latter, then after 2 or 3 major interests bought up a significant share of the votes, your vote would become valueless
but there is the curve... if enough votes are captured, your vote value would drop to zero.
If other people sold their right to vote, the votes of people who chose not to sell would become more valuable. I would hold out until I had a better sense of how valuable my vote would actually be.
We don’t have a functioning democracy.
He was an Oprah once (I beleive it was part of the Making Faces press tour since it featured heavily) and it was one of the most delightful hours of that show that I ever saw.
Making Faces was always my go to book when being in a bookstore as a kid. I always had a sense that he thought everyone was beautiful and could make the beauty shine through makeup—which as an 11 year old, fat, nerd was comforting.
I had a Making Faces calendar when I was a teen. It had photos from the book with abbreviated instructions on how to do the look. I basically learned makeup out of that calendar. I know it still influences the way I put it on today. Now that I’m older and can afford the whole book, I think I’ll get it. I’m sure I…
The equation of “doing for your community” is meaningless if you are owed money. THE LEAST the organization could do is to communicate to their freelancers. It is not a privilege to work for a company, it is an agreement. Ebony would not be so gracious if one of their freelancers didn’t uphold their end of the bargain…
How was it handed to her? People were fighting to keep her from having one, fought her when she had an album, and then killed her career after one song. There was almost a decade of work she put in to get to where she was.
And that, my friends, is what integrity looks like in the wild.
