Electricity is cheaper in Texas than other places. It is big enought to provide their own power. They don’t have to deal with Federal Energy regulators, for the most part. Texas likes it that way.

I recall twice seeing multiple manhole covers blown into the air on a busy avenue. Flames were coming out of the manholes long after the covers blew off. It was summertime both times. Pretty exciting stuff.
