This is a common opinion, but it makes a couple of assumptions that really aren’t solid.

This is a weird comment that makes no sense. The Democrats rolling over as our system increasingly becomes illiberal is very much a now problem, and it’s high on the list. What the hell do you think is higher?
Hoyer is getting so much bad press it will, hopefully, show other Democrats that this position is utterly stupid and unpopular. Democratic leadership is extremely risk-averse, too risk-averse most of the time, but this is probably too far even for them.
Omar has not made any remarks about Jews, but the people smearing her regularly claim she has (including some people that claim to be liberal).
This happens so often, and it’s incredibly dumb.
This sounds a lot more like conceptual problems than any individual failing (save perhaps the script writer). People aren’t really keen on Bay-esque violence porn like they used to be. At least, not from a series that has previously existing content far surpassing that.
Imam Borat (not my insult, sadly).
Anti-Muslim bigotry is so normalized and deeply pervades establishment circles it is very reminiscent of early 20th century anti-Semitism. Most of powerful then weren’t frothing anti-Semites. They read frothing anti-Semites and had a more genteel version of bigotry, very casual, that nonetheless demonized Jews. It was…
Conservative voters are primed to tune out the minute “racism” is used. They think it’s a fake liberal hoax. You see that stuff online constantly. Nothing following it is listened to. I’m not sure he’d move the numbers much with that tactic.
So many conservatives are primed for extreme racism against Muslims (or anyone deemed Muslim, including a lot of Arab Christians and Sikhs). It’s a solid strategy for someone with nothing else. The level of filth directed at Muslims and Arabs in conservative media, and I mean Fox and the National Review not just…
The far-right is effectively global now. When American or Australian neo-Nazis are adopting far-right Serbian rhetoric and German far-right groups are parroting the talking points of American white nationalists it’s all become a global network. A lot of the main US Islamophobic groups play a big role in that.
Evangelicals are a huge part of the broader GOP position, but this is specifically the RJC. I actually just read an article by two leftist Jewish activists making a strong case that the reflexive “but let’s talk about Evangelicals” is a way to both strip agency and whitewash problematic actors in the Jewish community.…
I doubt Trump could name any other Israeli politician. He doesn’t read, and it’s not like Lieberman or Bennett or Shaked are household names in the US. If he’s even heard of Gantz or Lapid it was when Netanyahu was bad-mouthing them I’m sure.
There were a lot of anti-Semitic tropes in that mess. But the RJC doesn’t care, and won’t care, because they’ve been whitewashing bigotry for years. The group isn’t the most reactionary organization of US Jews, but they’re definitely in the same building as the most reactionary groups.
This is word-for-word the stuff being peddled in far-right circles where anti-Muslim bigotry is rampant. It’d be impossible to tell where he got it because there are dozens of large conservative sites and hundreds of figures that peddle this filth.
+972mag does good work in English. Local Call in Hebrew (they often share articles). Haaretz English isn’t bad, especially the pure reporting. There’s a lot of sites with a fairly strong bias one way or another, but you can get a lot of good information as long as learn the tropes each side tends to use. AJ English…
I’ve heard of that piece/read some of it. It’s not nearly as rigorous as what I expect from that site, and has been widely dinged because of it.
I dismissed his next comment after he starting trying to cite well-documented toxic shitheels like Jimmy Dore and Sam Harris. I’m not playing this game where some fool tries to promote such toxic figures under the guise of “asking questions”.
She’s on Joe Rogan, an ally to numerous far-right extremists and “IDW” charlatans. She’s cited favorably by war-crimes apologists like Max Blumenthal. The “anti-imperialist” leftist camp she belongs to is credibly toxic and regularly harasses actual Palestinians, Muslims, and other PoC when they dare disagree. I see…
Do you mean the former RT and Telesur “journalist” with ties to a wide variety of the “anti-imperialist” camp of conspiracy mongers in the media? Most of those “anti-imperialist” leftists whitewash human rights abuses and promote conspiracy theories. I don’t respect or cite their work knowingly.
