If your state has emissions oil burning is a killer; you may not even be able to register it till it passes inspection.

Normally the defender of cheap, sporty rides, I crack piped this without much thought. Yes the mechanicals in the engine may go on forever, but there are an almost infinite number of sensors and accessories that can go wrong on a modern car. Some may make the car inop. some just irritating, but I like my cars to

Exactly. If it’s in good enough shape, another $2k to significantly extend the life of the vehicle doesn’t seem like such a terrible cost. But at triple the cost here (and about double if you did an engine swap) you can get a black on cream version with only 75k miles.

Car buying is hard.

You’ve been hitting the crack pipe pretty hard if you think you’re going to find one of those for $3K in acceptable condition.

I think this one is probably throw away territory when it finally dies. Just sell it to some young kid for 500 bucks and let him wrench on it for few years before his dad has it towed to the junkyard,

You must not leave the city or highway, I go many places where Cell data service is terrible or non existant.

Or you could put the phone down and focus on the important thing: Driving.

3rd Gear: too bad PSA can’t swap out or add Saab to mix, amirite.

4th Gear: You Get A Chrysler 200! And You Get A Dodge Dart!

My company car is a 2017 XTS. The older CUE was more a laggy pain in the ass than anything. However, the CUE in my 2017 works amazing. It changes pages instantly and has yet to freeze. I had a Lexus recently with a infotainment system that seems ancient by today’s standards.

So what? That 540 will cost another 63k in ridiculous maintenance costs in the 1st 10 years of ownership. It also hasn’t near the capabilities the ZL1 has. No comparison here whatsoever.

This article is talking performance. How would that same 540 stand up against the ZL1 on a track... I get your point.... And I also dont

This has got to be the most Jalopnik comment I’ve seen in months. Congrats.

Why would they stop using the name? Camaro aren’t supposed to be budget. The point is that it’s a “muscle car.” It’s bigger than a traditional sports car, providing greater practicallity than something like a 911 or a Corvette, but is at the same time visciously fast.

No sir. The proper 5-series equivalent would be a special edition M5 with extra power, tweaked aero, CF everything, and near-slick tires, and $150k price tag.

You sir/madam, are being a bit pedantic. The standard Camaros are still miles cheaper than any 5 series you can buy. This is a limited-production, performance variant; so of course it’s going to cost more!

It’s still an impressive deal for what it does though. Sure it’s only a deal if you have $63K, but compared to $200K that’s a deal.

Okay, and I know there’s differences in terms of creature comforts and whatnot, but a $63k Camaro would beat the ever-loving shit out of a $63k 5-series in any performance metric you care to name. I’m not even a huge muscle car/American car guy but this ZL1 is amazing.

is it weird that I like the look of the Amber lights?

A supercharged 911?
