The engineering and production of McLaren’s road cars engines is outsourced to Riccardo, a contract engine shop much like Cosworth. The engines themselves are loosely based off a 10-15 year old Nissan racing engine. The only in house powertrain stuff McLaren do is on the hybrid and electric systems.

Sorry, should have clarified it sounds like the LT4 minus the supercharger whine. Its certainly possible they’ve managed to make a DOHC V8 sound like one but I’d expect the DOHC engine to rev higher and have a different sound at wot.

Sounds like an LT to me. There’s a lack of supercharger whine that has me thinking its a turbocharged LT.
