A movie that no one carries “the stupid football”, never telegraphs the next move, has an unbelievable monster and can be endlessly analyzed regarding tiny details.

This IS the best horror movie ever made, without a doubt.

Also: “You gotta be fucking kidding me...”

This is one of those classic movies that I missed out on until recently. A couple years ago Alamo was showing it and my wife and I decided to check it out because neither of us had seen it.

No need to rationalize or explain anything.

John Carpenter’s The Thing is, without question, the best horror film ever made, full-stop. This is not opinion, this is hard fact.

“Oh you’ve got to be fucking kidding!”.

If you haven’t read it, allow me to highly recommend the short story “The Things” by Peter Watts. It’s the story of The Thing from the Thing’s perspective.

I 100% love The Thing. The only thing that could have made it better is if we got to see Wilford Brimley flying that tiny spaceship around. It would have been hilarious and awesome.

Along with everyone here, in my opinion, this is THE best horror movie of all time. It truly captures horror to it’s tee and the realistic reactions from the cast sold me on it. What truly stood out to me was that, the alien, by the end of the film, was still..an alien...literally. It never had a true form, it motives…

There is actually only 1 female and thats...the voice of the computer. It was Carpenter’s then wife and she wasnt even credited.

This is most likely my all time favorite horror movie. The scene when they are defib Norris, only for his chest to open up and bite off the other guy’s hands still makes me jump.

And!—to be very clear: The POLICE are the ONLY ones actually responsible for murder here! This idiot policeman pulled the trigger and murdered an innocent woman in her home unprovoked. There is NO excuse.

Character assassination. Right after Botham Jean was killed they announced they found weed in his house. Why was this announced? Same as the fact that they found a gun in the home- to elicit a response of “well, maybe they deserved it...” Sickens me. 

Her next door neighbor, a black man BTW, called them.

Yes, the “found a weapon” IN ANOTHER ROOM! Not the room she was in. why even mention it??? Other than to insinuate there was a “threat.”

This is why we don’t call cops.

Isn’t this the classic example brought up by ammosexuals about how you “need” a gun?  - Just in case you are home alone and there is some weirdo creeping around your windows at night?

“...says a gun was found in the home...”

It’s fucking Texas where they let every Tom, Dick, and Harry carry a gun but when it’s a Black person it’s an excuse for shooting them dead even when the cop is there uninfuckingvited.

First of all, since the fuck when is an open door cause for 5-0 to be all up in yoiur house, peeping in and shooting from outside like they don’t have any goddamn sense?

“The officer, who has been with the Fort Worth police since April 2018, was responding to a call about a residence with an open door.”
