Correct. If taken literally, teachers and students can’t talk about parents or spouses (because that implies gender), bathrooms can’t be labeled boy/girls (because gender). Teachers can’t address themselves as Mr or Mrs. No books that mention he, she. boy, girl, etc.  No more boys or girls changing rooms. No more “pare

I once had a vacuum line break mid-drive on the freeway, forcing my car into limp mode (and limited speed). There’s nothing scarier than driving on a CA freeway during rush hour trying to safely get off the freeway when you can only steer and brake, because you can’t speed up to maneuver. Jesus these Tesla Stans will

And when they do need to advertise it can simply be an ad that says “An electric car with the build quality and reliability of a Toyota”

If you think Tesla Stans are bad, you haven’t met the Toyota stans who have been quietly buying MILLIONS of boring, beige appliances to drive for decades...

This should also be titled “The Orville” is over (after it airs on HULU this year). Seth also hired Scott Grimes from The Orville, if you need more evidence.  Unless they are going to film two shows at once with the same actors...

That rear end is so big that it needs two trips just to “haul ass”

If you watched John Oliver recently he had a segment of truck/delivery drivers. Most package delivery people are independent contractors.  They don't have to pay benefits or even legal fees if there is an issue...

Wouldn’t they be better off investing in the already established technology of that microbe that turns organic waste (anything from roadkill to food scraps) into biodiesel? It would be a real-life Mr. Fusion.

That feature is reserved for Mustangs, thank you very much.

There;s no need for Volvo to become computer programmers. All they really need to go is forge alliances with other tech companies for things like navigation and entertainment. You know, someone like Google for instance. What? They already do? Huh...

Canada has fewer people than the state of California...

How about the fact that Canada doesn’t have that many people to begin with and getting things done are easier when you have a smaller country? Hell, California by itself has more people than ALL OF CANADA. CA was able to dictate a lot of the EPAs policies due to its size. If CA (California) can do it, then CA (Canada)

Agreed.  I just got a little dumber just reading this.  All three cars came in last place?  Hello?  Does anyone even quality check back there??

I own a 2001 New Beetle TDI which has no emissions (pre-emissions diesel) which is able to handle WVO (Waste Vegetable Oil). I looked into making my own biodiesel. The cost of the equipment, the chemicals and oil didn’t really add up to being worth it. As others mentioned, most restaurants have contracts to dispose

Yes, I was corrected about the sales tax only. I’m in CA too (and I’m a state certified appraiser for one of the more populous counties with boats).  I’m not surprised FL wants to limit taxes - why spend that money on education and kids, right?

I just learned that Florida doesn’t tax boats, just a sales/use tax (one time). That’s why they want this classified as a boat instead of a “floating home”

Yes, correct. I was initially confused as Florida documentation lists both Sales tax AND “USE” taxes. Sounds like Florida also taxes boats that enter Florida, therefore they can’t charge a “sales” tax on those, so they have the “use” tax. But correct, not a regular yearly tax bill like my state has for boats.

I believe that the VW diesel-gate thing was blown way out of proportion. Not in terms of the levels of pollution emitted - I whole heartedly believe that VW was to blame for that. I’m talking about the enforcement in general.

Lots of manufacturers have exemptions built into their emissions profile that are allowed in

In my state you get billed in the county where the boat “habitually” stays, so even if you go out to another city for say New years and you get reported to the county by the harbor master on Jan 1 (our lien date for determining ownership/location) - you can have that bill cancelled if you can prove that you paid the

So I double checked - Florida DOES tax boats at 6% of the value.  But Florida changed the law to cap the tax bills for boats to $18,000.  So the owner instead of paying 6% of $3.3 million, would be capped at $18,000.  So nearly a 90% discount versus a home...

Are boats exempt from property taxes in that state? In mine they are taxed, both boats AND floating homes. If a boat, then they should be taxed like other boats and the taxes are usually based on the value of the property (which the owner has stated the cost to buy = value).
