As an owner of a VW TDI, the “fixed” warranty was pretty good. Not sure about the MB warranty for the fix. One hope it covers ALL engine issues, including non-emissions ones.

This issue was oil cooler gaskets (2) that was so prone to leaking (and MB continued to make the motor even knowing the issue) there was a class…

the v6 diesel config is much worse maintenance-wise compared to the prior motors.

The switch to the V6 config for the diesel introduced a large gasket that loves to leak between the cylinder valley. It requires the entire top end to be removed to be fixed. Steer clear unless there is proof that it’s been replaced.
