Agreed - it’s all about the torque. I have a NB TDI (2001) with the 2.0L ALH motor. About 100HP but good torque.

My 535D has about 300HP and 465 LB/Ft torque. I think 0-60 is in the 4.9 range. Not a speed demon off the line but great passing power. It has so much torque I can do the whole 1 pedal driving thing in stop…

And wasn’t the Trump side the “Fuck your feelings” party? It goes both ways, son.  And it’s still going on.
