My 535D has the same feature. The numbered buttons under the radio are not for radio station but are memory buttons, just as you described. And they are touch sensitive, If you gently put a finger on the button it tells you the function, prior to pushing it.

Yes I read that the pardons vary by state and how the state reports the severity, I guess.  Like in CA where I live, EVERYTHING is illegal.  Down south, where they have drive through margarita shops, jaywalking is a more severe crime than DUI...
