AECD’s are legal if they are addressed with the EPA to protect the engine.

This is where my car suggestion comes into play - Mercedes electric car. Luxury, efficiency and about 1/2 what she wants to spend on something that will hardly be driven.

Let me add to this comment that CARB pretty much locked things in place once Trump was elected. So even if the Cheeto Jesus dismantles the EPA, CA has made sure auto makers will be forced to deal with the high standards, or not sell cars in CA (and several other states as well that follow CARB).

I checked out Cars.com too - while there are only a few TDI SELs for sale (ther are over 40 regular TDI passats for sale)- they are not $15K cars as you describe.

Yeah, I’m sure these aren’t realistic prices - the private sellers are lower and the dealers are the ones with the higher prices. There were about 14 selling within 100 miles from me - weird that you didn’t find as many.
