Correct - I’ll be keeping the car, which means I’ll actually get nothing - as there will never be a fix (that is approved by the EPA).

It depends on the model - VW thought they would have a fix for the gen2 and 3 cars so they deliberately low-balled those. The gen1 owners are walking away with enough to buy a replacement vehicle.
