Sure, I get that. Part of the problem is that OP thinks that bringing steaks up to room temp is necessary in the first place, which it isn’t. But following his assumption, I guess he figures that if the steak’s going to be sitting around for hours (and it would take hours) coming up to room temp, why not use that time

This is why people have children. I send a text saying “take the steaks out” and when I get home...they are still in the fridge and the kid is on his Xbox. Nevermind.
