I was in Austin this year to watch the WEC race and (despite the ridiculous heat and humidity) I loved every second of it. Most of my time was spent at the track so I didn’t get to see as much of the city as I’d have liked, but what little I got to experience of the food, people, and music was awesome.

Now playing

This post led me to spending over an hour listening to clips of the LFA revving its tires off, so thanks for that!

Nah, the stuff he contracts out to be sold on Sur La Table may be in that price range, but this meteor knife was one of his custom jobs which means it cost at least $1.5k or more. Considering the material and design, I’m willing to bet on it costing substantially more than that. Still, if I were a pro chef with the

This wasn’t run on the full circuit, it basically amounted to 3 long straights, 3 braking corners and 2 med/high speed corners. We know the P1 is faster in a straight line so it isn’t really shocking to see it beat the 918 with that track configuration. I’m more surprised the Ferrari is so far back considering its

Slightly disappointed that they didn’t get to run the full course at Silverstone, but hey I’ll take whatever I can get at this point. Hopefully NotTopGear and Harris were able to run the full circuit. In any case, thanks to everyone that made this run possible!

Slater’s 50/50 here in California has a PB&J burger. I split one with a friend as a paring with one of their really spicy monthly burgers (it used ghost pepper powder and a habanero popper) and loved it. Have yet to try it on its own so I can’t say if it’s too sweet, but as a chaser for a really hot burger it hit the

Yeah! This one is so simple, with so much potential, that it’s just begging to be tried at home as quickly as possible. In fact, I’ll join you at the store...

Only planned to watch a bit, ended up watching the whole darn thing. Love this movie.

Well aware, hence why I stated in my story that it wasn’t going to be a typically overexposed shot.

Yeah, the point of my shot wasn’t to show something with extremely blown highlights or anything. It was just to present a different take on what intentionally “incorrectly” exposing a shot could do if you knew what you wanted out of it. In this case, I chose to ignore the metering to induce motion blur in full

Since you mention Lightroom, I’m going to assume you already shoot in RAW. If not, like JSWilson suggests, start doing that since it’ll give you the most leeway in post.

Hi, I’m the one who took this shot. You’d be surprised how much detail you can bring back in post if you have a good enough sensor. Here is the unprocessed shot out of camera, and one with the exposure brought way down via Lightroom:

Yeah, there really is something special about racing in the dying light!

I know I’m not Kurt, and I wasn’t able to grab a good shot of it on track, but here’s pics of it during the fan walk and leaving pit lane!

Turns out focus was just fine!

Great shots! Although I kind of wish Audi was able to bring more of a fight to Porsche, this was a great weekend and I’m so happy I was able to make it.

Nope. Beyond the whole air bag thing (10-2 is no longer recommended because it could result in your arms being pushed into yourself or other things like the A-pillar or rear view mirror by the rapidly deploying bag) 9 and 3 gives you finer control of small movements, leverage (since your palm or thumbs are already in

Here, have a star for the Her reference!

Mars’ gravity was addressed in the book and is something than Watney has to constantly work with and around. I can only hope the movie doesn’t drop the ball in depicting that visually.

While pretty good visually speaking, all my inner Jalop allowed me to focus on for most of the video was that the center lines indicate that it’s legal for them to pass on a 2-lane road while driving through blind corners. I know this is a game where magitek and monsters exist, but my suspension of disbelief has its
