His sarcasm flew right over your head...

The FA with a failed #2 rod was also stock. As was the Forester XT with a FA that overheated and destroyed the heads, pistons, etc. Both of which I had to replace with full longblock assemblies. Both cars had less than 7K miles.

I see more rod knocks than ringlands. But anyway, it’s not like the FA has worked out all of the kinks either. I’ve seen more than one rod crash through a block...

The enthusiast part of me says too long. The technician part of me that has worked on a FA says not long enough.

I’m at 144k miles.

The EJ needs to be phased out for emissions regulations as is. A hot version would not be feasible, emissions-wise, without updating the powerplant.

I don’t think I’m the one who was drinking...

Is...is this English I’m reading?

Sammy is my friend and former coworker. He doesn’t weep on the outside.

The FA20 doesn’t have much turbo lag at all, thanks to the twin-scroll and the revised turbo location. The current 3.6 is old and tired. As an enthusiast, I’m hoping a turbo flat-six. As a Subaru technician, I’m hoping for something easier to work on.

Believe it or not, we do lose some customers to other brands with larger vehicles. The field service engineer that supports the district I’m in hinted that it should be around the size of a Sequoia.

Subaru’s new SUV is a response to their customers saying that they are outgrowing their Outback and thus go to a different brand for a third row. Will they succeed this time? Probably, if they make the third row usable this time.

Unfortunately, without the EPA and Carb, the LA basin may well regress into what it was in the 60s.

The cooling fan uses a viscous coupling.

Intentional oversteer = good. Sudden unintentional oversteer mid-corner = potentially lethal.

Peak power, yes. You should hit peak torque anywhere between 3000-4000 depending on turbo and exhaust setup. You might be able to get some wheel spin without dumping the clutch.

You just gotta find the right guys to do it. I used to work at a shop where we did motor swaps and builds, and there were two main things that held us back when we were trying to get cars out the door.

Well, my family members don’t ask to borrow my car, does that count?

I stave off most misinformation from salesmen by steering the conversation towards that fact that I’m a Subaru certified master tech. Works most of the time at other manufacturer’s dealers, and works 100% of the time at Subaru dealers.

I’m also willing to bet that the fuel pump in your F-150 is bigger!
