The line-up of MCW, KJ, Mbah a Moute, Nerlens and Covington are allowing 86 points per 100 possessions. That's really good and those guys have really long arms. Unless you haven't heard, "Giving up more points than scoring more than the other teams" isn't what the Sixers are trying to do. They're trying to develop

So far so good on the defensive end. Now they just need to see how Embiid and Saric fit, draft/sign some guys who can score and all of a sudden they've got a real chance.

Exactly! Except Iguodala was gone when Hinkey came in, so pretty much just Holiday, Spence for 3, poor poor Thad and the extra terrestrial who shall not be named. JEEZ! Looking at it that way, I'm so much happier with what we have now.

I'm excited about a possible starting line-up of MCW, D'Angelo Russell, KJ, Nerlens, and Embiid. Off the bench we have Jerami Grant, Covington, Wroten, Sampson, Hollis T, and/or another of our seven 1st and second round picks. That's just next year. Then our guys are continuing to get better (if this year is any

You're right, it hasn't worked better, but the plan is only half way there and it has the potential to work better. Nothing else has worked for the Sixers since AI, including rolling with home grown talent bit never being in position to draft a difference maker, and when that resulted in mediocrity, trading for a big

It wasn't any terrible contract, it was a decade plus of mediocrity. Instead of making a choice to continue its string of frustrating first round playoff exits without the means to acquire the star they desperately needed to win a championship, Hinkie and the front office decided to sacrifice a few seasons for a

They traded Iguodala, Vucevuc, Mo Harkless and sometime else I can't remember for Bynum, who they paid $17 million to play exactly zero games.

Here's the thing: what assets do the Sixers actually HAVE?

MCW, Noel, Covington, Mbah a Moute are all nba players. KJ McDaniels, Jerami Grant, Tony Wroten and Jamar Sampson are serviceable coming of the bench. Embiid is a question mark, but was projected 1st overall before his injury above Jabari and Wiggins. Dario Saric is the best young player in Euroleague. They have 2

I don't know, the Sixers defense is improving rapidly, and they have 2 first round picks next year, plus Embiid and Saric the year after that. Then they have all the cap space and future picks to trade for a couple good shooters and all of a sudden they look pretty scary.

Bynum was a hell of an albatross contract, especially considering that he played exactly zero games for the Sixers!

Seems like all the NBA writers I respect are on board, and the rest are treating the team to shreds...

The Rockets focused on acquiring assets, mostly future draft picks, and ended up being able to make a trade for James Harden. Hinkie was a part of that front office, and he's employing that strategy with the Sixers.

I can't help but think that this has something to do with Vice and John McAfee.

Ditto. I graduated in 08, well before any Sandusky allegations, and the disgust had been there for years.
