It’s mostly the noise I bet, little engine going over 8,000 RPM must have sounded great. A Tesla with no engine noise and no tire squealing probably won’t attract the cops as much.

This exactly, with no tire squealing and noise it’ll be quite easy to punch it without attracting unwanted attention.
On pumps that don’t lock on you can usually jam either the fob or the gas cap in the handle to keep it pumping while you lean against the car trying to look cool or whatever.
That’s one possibility, also with modified vehicles it’s frequent to get a short circuit from a cable rubbing somewhere so that could have also happened.
It all depends on safety factor, in 1938 Rudolf Caracciola did 268 MPH in completely unsuitable tires (which is why many of these record attempts ended tragically).
05 Seat Cordoba, can confirm, but I managed to get it fixed for around $200 at an upholstery shop (along with some other stuff).
I think only the 2 door was sold in the US, I also think the rear hatch and engine are a bit different.
Yeah definitely have one of those.
Manual transmission, wind up windows, no climate control, cigarette lighter...
A targa top is NOT a roadster
That’s a DEFINITE future classic though
Take the Abarth from the list above, it’s pretty simple, I don’t see why it shouldn’t be working in 30 or 40 years if right now we have running Aston Martin Lagondas with all the bells and whistles on the dash still functioning.
That’s why you never brake check a truck, you just “forget” to accelerate for a while until the speed drops quite a bit and then gun the accelerator to get back to cruising speed.
and the look
Not my style but it’d go well with a Hellcat swap.
Yup, probably because 140 miles of range isn’t really much. It’d cover around 90% of the driving I do (200 miles would cover almost 99%) and in city traffic under, say 50 MPH it’s probably faster even than the Abarth but without the glorious sound.
Or go even cheaper with one of those off-lease Fiat 500e’s for $6,000, I’m actually considering one for my city driving.
My dad was teaching my older sister how to drive so I used to tag along. This was in a large area that was undergoing development so there were a lot of empty streets and no cars at all.
