Your childhood and the severe flu.
I had a similar thing happen to me except I was a victim of organized crime. We used to draw racetracks with chalk on the sidewalk to race our cars, the racetrack was segmented and you would flick your car from space to space when it was your turn without going off the track. The winner got the losers car.
Did you ever get another one?
The year is 1993 and my beloved Bronco/Motorcycle combo went missing. I know Justin took it while we were playing cars but I can’t prove it. The authorities wouldn’t help and offered to get me a new one, but they were no longer available. To this day it still pisses me off.
Great band, New York Hardcore Punk!
I took my E36 540i to my indy for a gearbox oil change. That afternoon I got a call from them saying that the work was complete, but I opted to pick it up in the morning. Opening time the next morning, I get a phone call. Someone broke into the shop and stole two cars. One of them was mine. I live in a city where…
Back in the late 80's, I had my first car stolen, a Mk2 Ford Escort (I live in the UK, and back then in a fairly small town). At the time, these things were worth next to nothing, but you could unlock and start them with a spoon handle, so I had a hidden fuel cut-off switch fitted under the dash. Anyone nicking it…
Someone stole my precious 89 MKIII Supra one day. Wife and I drove around all day looking for it, but I gave up and decided to buy another that same day. So I did! Took home a 92 with a known blown headgasket and I parked it right in front of my wife’s 86.5 Supra, removing the battery and spark plug wires first.
Freshman year at College Park(UMD). Walked out of the dorm to smoke a cigarette. See a car pull in and turn around(parking lot dead-ended). Guy and a girl are getting out of their car. Guy gets out of the car that just turned around and stopped, pulled out a gun and started yelling to give him the keys. They oblige…
Back in 2008, my parents searched the whole county for my mom’s perfect car. They finally found it in Vermont, and drove the 2004 Audi A6 Quattro Avant in bright red back to Omaha. The car had only been in Omaha a week or two when my dad took it to a shop to have a remote start installed. Long story short, someone…
Two stories: I used to live in North East Washington, DC when I was a student. The neighborhood was just starting to improve, but it had a long way to go. Both thefts were room mate’s cars that occurred over the course of just 18 months living there:
Which is probably more worrying than the car theft!
I get a call at the office from my insurance company one day telling me that they’ve recovered my stolen car. I tell them they must be mistaken because I didn’t report a car stolen - then they begin to verify my information and it just starts crushing me as I realize it’s actually my car that was stolen the night…
When I lived on the west side of the city of Buffalo several years ago (prior to it being reclaimed by hipster folk, when houses were still available for $40k) I went out to go to work one morning and my shitty ass ‘94 Civic CX hatchback (5sp manual, no power steering or A/C from factory) was gone. I asked my…
You deserved a durum roll for that one.
Yeah he really likes to go against the grain that’s for sure.
At yeast he made it out in one piece.
If only it was a Scout drag racer. “Unintentional Harvester” would be such a rad drag-car name.
