Okay I should explain it in this way...instead of using this to fully expose a consistent racial bias (which is present), it seems liked Ahmed/his family used this for their own self interest. What the school did to the kid was terrible, but the aftermath is what I’m focusing on here. That’s it.

Because Cuban was 100% on his side before talking to him and then said “ehhh something seems weird” after talking to him.

He didn’t make a clock, he took one apart. It’s just that nothing felt natural about the aftermath and how it was handled. The kid went from some random science kid who did something millions upon millions of intelligent children in the country can do to meeting the goddamn President, getting scholarship offers up the

As much as I despise Texas and the school for the way they want about this, absolutely nothing here seems right from that family. For one, the clock was basically a nothing thing in the first place. Two, the kid has gotten an absolutely insane amount of attention out of it. Three, they moved to fucking Qatar. Four,

Do you remember when women actually looked like women and behaved like ladies?
Yeah it was about the time this picture was taken.
Before blue hair dye, fat girls in skinny jeans and girls thinking their period is something to show everyone like it’s a treasure.

Follow the rules. Avoid chokeslam. Simple.

More whites are gunned down than blacks. Maybe we should burn your neighborhoods down in peaceful protest too?

Okay - and the First Nations who are also never portrayed on film? Lets not pretend Asians were never mistreated in America either - internment camps during WWII for example.

Well it’s not just Asians either - First Nations, Middle Easterners, Latinos - there’s a whole bunch of people in America who are underrepresented on film or who are only asked to play stereotypical roles. Police discrimination doesn’t really have jack shit to do with film representation either - nice try though.

I found it annoying how disjointed his monologue seemed and how he only spoke about black people - as if black people are the only ones suffering from discrimination in Hollywood. The last time an Asian Woman won an academy award for acting was in 1957.

Jamie Foxx is a terrible actor. A decent mimic, he's not an actor.

Let me guess — you think the world would be a better place if only we listened to and acted on the opinions of more seventh graders. And One Direction fans.

People sometimes believe that having (or claiming to have) a mental disorder will make them seem deeper and more complex. That whole madness = genius thing or whatever.

Jesus, I feel bad for your fiance.

And infantilizing and anti-intellectual, yes. Just, come on, people — sit, learn, discuss. Your professor doesn’t have to be cuddly; it’s simply not his or her job.

People: you can’t go reading an interview with John Waters and then complain that you’re offended. THAT’S HIS WHOLE SHTICK. Fucking deal or don’t read.

I agree. I think it speaks to the larger issue of college student infantilization. I work at a college and it’s gotten worse- college students are not treated as adults and you have to be incredibly careful to not say anything controversial. I think the whole “trigger warning” thing is really about a much larger

I have been raped. To shield me and handle me with kid gloves is to deny me the strength I have worked so hard to regain. I’m a woman, and I understand as much as any survivor that rape happens. Trigger warnings are bullshit.

Most people who throw around trigger warnings don’t have PTSD. How do we know? Statistics, frankly.

Well, that’s what it SHOULD be for, but on some campuses, the whole trigger warning trend is turning into something more, and is being used by some sheltered kids to avoid “uncomfortable” or “upsetting” topics.
