Very crusty but I think the embarrassment is punishment enough. I don’t know that blood has to be drawn for every infraction. It’s definitely a bad look but I think a suspension is satisfactory

This is certainly caddish behavior but what exactly would be the right punishment here? I don’t see firing someone over this or even giving a suspension. Not all harassment is a career-killer.
This aricle is bait. They both insulted each other, one had messages a lot longer than the other yet she is played as the victim. We don’t know what their prior message history looks like. You know why this article didn’t get a lot of instant comments like other Deadspin articles do? Because everyyone is questioning…
Jason, I completely disagree.
This is such a smug, fucked up attitude that you have, and a great way to make everyone who’s not an extreme left-wing race activist hate us (and yes, that includes a lot of minorities). Diversity is not a zero-sum game. Either we want big tentpole movies like this to look like real life and include people of all…
They can. The lane always seems to be “white people are bad”.
they can’t pick a lane. classic
Prince Anders is likely one of Princess Jasmine’s many suitors that early in the movie gets bit by her tiger and calls Aladdin a “worthless street rat”. In other words, a villain and a bit part at that. Complaining about Prince Anders is probably like complaining that Dr Watson and Gollum are in Black Panther.
So, diversity is bad then?
Personally? If it’s something that a prosecutor declines to bring charges for because of lack of evidence, I’m not sure the NFL should do anything. If you work an office job and someone accuses you of domestic violence and you end up not getting charged, should your job suspend or fire you based solely on the…
One thing to note, and I said it elsewhere, it looked like a mob taking actions into their own hands. It was not a community coming together to remove it.
I despise the term “bernie bro”. Maybe because it’s meant to disparage people like me. The corporate Democratic Party is a failure and their rejection of policies they deem to be “too socialist” will keep that failure going towards annihilation. The base of the Progressive coalition is a fair economic system that…
I don’t disagree with the substance of the article other than the really shaky use of the victim’s lawyer’s opinion about her relative innocence as the anchor, as if he’s speaking for society at large. He’s her advocate and should be expected to say those types of things as part of his advocacy. All attorneys do…
In a comment criticizing the current process by which allegations of sexual assault are investigated on college campuses, Candice Jackson, deputy assistant secretary in the Office for Civil Rights, told The New York Times that it was not “fairly balanced between the accusing victim and the accused student.”
So the answer is you don’t know what the number is?
Right, I’m trying not to go full MRA here, but those were my thoughts too. 93% of inmates in federal prisons are male, so this is the kind of thing that would help men a lot more than women. Is there some reason to only target this bill at mothers, and not fathers as well?
The bill would also restructure the way the justice system deals with female inmates who have children. If it passes, the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required to take steps to make it easier for mothers to stay in touch with their children.
He gave credit (and made multiple disclosures like this) after being called out for misrepresenting himself as a Times reporter in his bio (or at least for accidentally misleading people to believe he was). A lot of people thought he was one of the Times writers on the big stories this week!
Ed, it’s not always black and white.
Developmental psychologist here who works at a public agency and deals with cases like the above. This situation is actually fairly common in families, so much so that it wouldn’t shock you. The difference is 1) the kids never tell or 2) families are too embarrassed to go public.
