We get a healthy rebate in hybrid/plug-in/EV vehicles in California. If anything, taking that into account would make the car more affordable. The rebate on our Focus was enough to pay for the entire first year of the lease.

The prices are going up because they are wonderful cars. A market crash will not dwindle demand, it will just reduce those who can pay the price.
