her $25K budget won’t allow for a lightly used panamera, maybe a high mileage one, but most are still north of $30K. Prices are coming down though. (I’ve been keeping an eye on their prices as they are on my short list for a next vehicle)

I aaaaaaaalmost suggested this (and then realized I suggest old but gently used BMWs too much).

She was also talking with us about a CPO 3 Series with a manual, so that’s on the table too.

This should really be the only answer to any post on Jalopnik, ever.

“Although you have a Mini so your perception of reliability may be skewed from the norm slightly.”

Zing.

Great idea, but hard to find. There’s probably a few nationwide and maybe one RWD. Worth it to travel for in my opinion, but most people don’t want to travel to buy a car.

No need to nitpick. It’s not like this is an auto enthusiast website and the E-type is a car well known by auto enthusiasts...

I don’t want to like this because the original was so good.

it’s a RWD sedan with a 5-speed stick matched to a straight 6 so yeah unless you’re Jalop is off this morning it should be an automatic NP at what amounts to why not money these days.

That likely very recent Maaco respray is about to start bubbling/peeling in 3, 2, 1 . . .

Yeah, this. I’ve had the ownership experience in one and the driving experience in several. They’re simply not enjoyable on very many US roads. Dubai, maybe. But here? Our *great* driving roads are 2nd and 3rd gear roads, where a narrow car with a compliant suspension is what you really want. Anything more than 400

Something, something, visit to the cockpit.

I’d fly her friendly skies

Things get knocked out of place in turbulence, beans over the frank and such.

She’s outwitted the Code Brown by not wearing underwear! I believe we’ve all underestimated this woman and judged her solely on other merits.

And the maintenance. “Oh, I just drove 1000 miles, time for a $400 oil change.” “Oh, there’s 3k miles, time for tires and a valve job.” “Oh, 5k miles, there goes 40% of the value of the car.”

Don’t forget about the fears of stopping for fuel.

You’re conveniently missing the part where they want a coupe. For example I would love to own a 4 series or a 6 series, but I would need the practicality of a four door. The Grand Coupes offer the best of both worlds. Sporty design (stance, proportion, ergonomics) but with the added practicality of back doors.

At some point in a gearhead’s life, we mature beyond the posters of supercars and top trumps specs, and realize that there will always be something faster, something more expensive, something sleeker. That’s when we turn into Torchinsky and start looking for weird instead of exotic.
