I never saw the Lorca twist coming and I totally bought into it — for all the reasons you pointed out. Lorca actually makes much more sense with this reveal.

IWait... maybe this is a memory from another timeline, but i thought KT left io9 some time ago, which I assumed was from a desire to never see another episode of Discovery ever again.

I read a couple of different recaps of Discovery each week, and I find that they say a lot more about the particular reviewer and what he or she expects STAR TREK to be than about the particular show.

If the show itself can’t hide the twist, so you just have to lie in the press and public, you’ve failed.
