True. I think they are both great actors and good shows. I just like Sherlock more. One problem is that Elementary is on too late for me and not on Hulu so I hardly ever see it. I did give the first few episodes a try and watch it if it is on and I am awake. Plus Lucy Liu is pretty much amazing.

That should be the only comment on this damn thread! well put.

a mind palace is actually pretty common technique to organize mental information. I have heard it works quite well but I have a butt palace (smart phone)

But since they are doing an homage as well as an adaptation it makes perfect sense to also "kill" Sherlock, and why not write themselves into a better corner than Doyle did. But yeah, at the end of the day if that turned you off then it turned you off. Still no reason to call the guy a piece of shit.

That was my favorite, too. Did people really think they were going to guess exactly what Moffat et al were going to do?

Now that was funny.

There are WAY too many people saying that there are WAY too many Sherlock Holmes readaptaions out there. Instead of complaining for the zillionth time why don't they make something original that sells better than a Sherlock Holmes readaptation.

Me too! There are a few others I like, but especially the X-Men ones it seemed like he said "oh, that was popular I bet I can do it for all the X-Men."

I agree, but I have also rationalized that he is only giving us what it actually is rather than going through all of the narrowing down that he did in his head to get to the one right answer. He only does that for dramatic effect.

Does CBS pay you? I don't think I have ever heard anyone use "the Mentalist" and "realistic" in the same sentence.

That could be good

That is pretty much why I don't like the Elementary Holmes as much. At least Comberbath's character is a sociopath. To me Miller's Holmes just comes off as being an ass for the sake of being an ass, or worse, because he is written that way. But they are both very different shows and fill very different niches.

Of course it was the cabbie, but WHY was it the cabbie.

Wow. No one has ever done the deductive detective makes bad guesses routine before. And it wasn't even done well. Pete Holmes is just hit or miss with me. Half of his lame X-men skits are just trying way too hard. But I have enjoyed the Street Fighter ones. This was pretty disappointing. Maybe it's just because Watson

excellent point

isn't that the point of half the internet. Facebook, Twitter, tumblr, Instagram. None of these would be popular if people didn't think someone cared about what they had to say. Even comment threads...

I think that is one of the problems with the internet as a means of communication and that actually it no longer is understood when someone says "All ____ are ____" that they are being hyperbolic. If I am talking to someone in person I generally know that they don't really think all men are assholes because I am a man

I have found this doesn't really work for me as the answer ends up being "Nope"

"Sweet old man tells you to kill Nazis. You damn well better kill Nazis"
