Seriously. Atlanta has had three major pro teams for 50+ years now, and have exactly ONE championship (‘95 Braves). The Falcons have been to two Super Bowls, and the Hawks have only one trip to the CONFERENCE finals (and none to the NBA finals). Both ATL hockey teams were terrible, too.

this will get nowhere near the stars it deserves.

If it’s any consolation, he’s not being paid very much if he writes for the GB Press-Gazette. Take away the football team, and Green Bay is basically Saginaw or Paducah.

There’s absolutely no fucking way that Green Bay touches this guy. The Packers have a knack for avoiding players with serious disciplinary problems, far less than what Peterson did.

The NHL might not yet, but in the next 5-10 years, maybe. There were several attempts at women’s pro basketball leagues before the WNBA stuck.

One of the problems is location. If you look at women’s hockey attendance, the four biggest supporters are Minnesota, Wisconsin, UM-Duluth, and North Dakota. Yet this league is on the East Coast, where UConn women’s basketball dominates all other female competition for media attention.

This makes what SMU did in the 70s and 80s seem pretty tame in comparison. They paid kids in Texas to play college football. Hell, there’s undoubtedly some high schools in the state doing the exact same thing.

I can get two cocktails on a Southwest flight for $10, or I can get one domestic draft beer at the airport for $12 (including taxes and tip).
