I really think you underestimate Teslas, and overestimate the amount of luxury you get in a base 3-series or C-class these days. The Model 3 seats are more comfortable than their German rivals, you get more standard features, and they all use the same faux-leather stuff and alcantara accents. Even the base Model 3 has

It hasnt for the last few decades. What is luxury about any MB below a maxed out E class. Its fake leather and screens just like a Tesla. Same with BMW, Audi, etc.

Luxury is like beauty. It’s in the eye of the beholder.

I’m just saying, the cries of “AhCkTuAlLy TeSlA iSnT LuGgZheRy!” is just so obnoxious, even to me, and I’m on the spectrum. Everyone is chasing volume with garbage that isn’t meant to last much past a three year lease, if one’s not special enough (despite good power, reasonably advanced tech, and most importantly,

I mean, I’m pretty the jury has come back with a “not smart” verdict on Rodgers.

I’ve argued the same, but the fact that people are spending an equal amount of money on a car in the same segment (size-wise at least) but with arguably less content is telling. Clearly more consumers will pay a premium for an electric power unit, than what as traditionally commanded that premium (luxury materials and

They sold over 900,000 cars that ,according to Jalopnik, nobody wants last year. Incredible. Imagine if they made a product that actually appealed to buyers…

The thing with Challengers is the owners REALLY like them. It’s kind of the Tommy Bahama of cars.

I think you’ve got it backwards. It was a large ship transported by hydrogen ;)

but only because it is so old that it predates the microchip.

I’m skeptical that they’ll stop selling the Challenger in two years since it continues to print money for them. They may begin to offer an electric version, but unless charging infrastructure improves significantly in that timeframe, thousands of potential buyers won’t view it as a reasonable replacement.

2nd Gear: The argument that America needs to shit out a 20k EV is stupid. People aren’t going to buy it. Average price for cars is up in the 40s now and you can get a very well equipped EV from multiple manufacturers (including Tesla) under that already. America doesn’t buy small penalty box cars. They will buy used

can’t have a tesla article, especially one pointing out their success without also shitting all over them.

just once I would like to see an article about Tesla on Jalopnik that didn’t throw in gratuitous insults.

disclaimer: I don’t and likely never will own a Tesla and am not a particular Tesla fanboi, although I do

Those things are not what we call mutually exclusive.

Free electricity to all through large towers spaced out around the US. Good times. Also, the AC/DC war and public battles, which ironically lead to the invention of the electric chair.

Which is why the US no longer has just 8 head lamps that cost $8-15 but instead now has hundreds that cost $100-2000.

When we finally get a warm evening here in Mass. I’m planning to go out and adjust the aim on my Tacoma’s super bright LED headlights down a few degrees just for this reason. I’ve spent the last 8 years in a Mazda3 and I know just how annoying my new Tacoma’s headlights can be. Just my small effort to be slightly less

Virginia remains the only state where radar detectors are illegal. This is in spite of the fact that police radars can already defeat most detectors and in spite of the fact that most radar detectors are less accurate than just using Waze. I think the law is still on the book just because there’s almost no point in

While I don’t think there is a hard and fast definition of crossover, IMO the deciding factor between SUV and CUV is that SUVs are Body on Frame while CUVs are Unibody. Like every other attempt at quantifying the difference I’m sure there are exceptions to both.

Chicken Tax!!
