Capitalism is the worst economic system, except for all the others.

C4C was touted as helping out the poors but it mostly assisted car manufacturers, car dealers, and well-off people. Trade-ins had to be fully insured and driveable and at best you could get a $4500 voucher. The dealers were struggling so you could probably have gotten most of that anyway.

It’s useless if I’m not interested in it! But seriously, we spend a ton of money pursuing frivolous hobbies like racing or car restoration. I'm guilty and I've begun to wonder what's the point. Would I be happier hiking than wrenching?

The front end design really grates on me.

Are we ever going to get off the more more more mentality? Sure it’s good for people to have a job so they can provide for themselves but not everyone has to continually produce more useless crap for endless consumption. Our consumer economy is based on ever increasing growth. Is this really a good thing? Wouldn’t it

What is best for the shareholders it to run a profitable company, invest in the future, and thereby protect and grow shareholder value. Buybacks are sugar snacks and just mean the company leadership is out of ideas to invest in their own company. If they don’t get a bailout and share prices fall or get wiped out, did

And the karma flip side of inflating stock prices with buybacks.

The airlines and many other big businesses buy back shares for two reasons. 1) They are out of ideas on how to invest their profits into their business 2) Their CEOs need the share price to rise so they can make their bonuses. They were irresponsible with their cash reserves and they now expect everyone else to bail

Not to mention creditors, dealers, pensioners, employees / unions, and even politicians in Wisconsin. They really have very little maneuvering room.

Yeah, but even the Classic comes with some money on the hood. Nobody pays MSRP for a pickup.

I was expecting to hear they were buying Ram Classics for $30k. Who pays $40k for an good but obsolete truck?

My car had wheels similar to the one pictured but I had forgotten it only had 3 lugs.

That’s really cool although I don’t understand the hood bulge.

You are much more up on R12 variants than I am. Mine was a ‘74 North American TL model in baby blue with a 1.6L engine. Really not that bad of a car. I recall that my petite girlfriend could not put the car in reverse unless she pushed the seat back and then she couldn’t reach the pedals!

Yes they were crazy expensive in the US. I have the window sticker for my ‘76, sold to a Tampa doctor for $7800! Then the dealer took him for excessive maintenance and repairs for the next few years.

Total production of about 389,544 so pretty successful for a small company (back then).

I don’t think the pits in the top surface of your piston are a good thing. Won’t that cause hot spots and predetonation?

I’m pretty sure my Renault 12 had 4 lug wheels. Memory is a bit foggy since my electroshock treatments for French car addiction.

Haul 4 people and their luggage in comfort at 80+ mph all day long, highway or backroads.

Germans and Italians: “What is the best design? Let’s build the processes and tools to make that.”
British: “What can make with stuff I have laying about?”.
